The Chinatown Merchants Association and ATT present the annual Autumn Moon Festival. The Moon Festival, one of the most celebrated traditions observed by Asians throughout the world, falls on the 15th day of the 8th moon, when the moon is the brightest. On September 27, some of the best local mariachis and folkloric dancers in the bay area will perform at various hotels and restaurants all around downtown San José. Stop in for great food, great ambience, and great mariachi music. Check their website for more information. On September 28, Feria del Mariachi at downtown San José’s Plaza de Cesar Chavez is a community festival with music and dance, food and family activities. Admission is $10 for ages 13+. Children 12 and under are FREE. Tickets will be sold at Plaza de Cesar Chavez Feria del Mariachi entrances. Floreo de soga workshop presented by Los Hermanos Escamilla at the outdoor festival. The outdoor festival will showcase different genres of Latin music and will feature Lila Downs, Los Cenzontles, Quetzal, Los Pinguos, and traditional Mariachi music and dance including, at the El Mexicano Main Stage, performances by Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano, Mariachi Azteca, Los Lupeños de San José, Mariachi Las Pioneras, Mariachi Ellas Son, Mariachi Internacional Guadalajara, and a GRAND FINALE WITH ALL MARIACHI.

One of California’s most popular celebrations of Asian traditions, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival marks its 42nd year. Each year, more than 200,000 people attend this dazzling display showcasing Japanese culture and the diversity of the Japanese American community. A festival held on two consecutive weekends in Japantown showcases traditional Japanese cuisine, cooking demonstrations, live music, folk dancing, martial arts demonstrations, taiko drumming, tea ceremonies, arts and crafts. The grand parade on Sunday, April 19 begins at 1pm at Civic Center and ends in Japantown at Post & Fillmore. Japanese classical (Buyo) and folk dance (Minyo) groups representing the Bay Area will perform throughout the parade route like a myriad of floating butterflies. World renowned San Francisco Taiko Dojo will keep the parade upbeat with the thundering sound of the taiko, and this year's Queen and her Court will cascade their way to Japantown. Anchoring the parade is the exciting Taru Mikoshi, that will be hoisted by over one hundred strong individuals from throughout the Bay Area. It is a spectacle not to be missed.
