Millions of delicious, nutritious, mouth-watering strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries will be ripe for a celebration at the “new” MONTEREY BAY BERRY FESTIVAL. While strawberries, Santa Cruz County’s number one agriculture crop, have been at the center of attention at other festivals, this will be the first time raspberries, blackberries and blueberries will be in the spotlight too. Scrumptious berries abound as desserts make “Berry Lane” a popular destination for festival-goers. Field-fresh berries by the flat or pint are among the favorite Festival take home items. Proceeds from the Berry Lane sales benefit numerous local nonprofit organizations and all berries are donated by local growers. The tasty treats are just part of the fun over the weekend. Besides the non-stop entertainment on the main bandstand, there are arts and crafts booths, a wide range of Festival food selections, and gooey contests for the young and old happening each day. A new attraction will be the Gold Coast Arabian Classic and Amateur Horse Show and a Muscle Car Show.
